River Hills School

Iowa winters are harsh on people and animals. These students are concerned about animals not finding sufficient food due to the heavy snow we have had recently....so these young ladies decided to do something about it. Pine cones smeared with peanut butter and then rolled in birdseed were made during craft time today. These will be hung outside our classroom windows so the students can view the different birds that feast on them, and then identify which birds they are. Keeping education personal and fun!

To celebrate Black History Month, students wrote a small paragraph about a favorite influential Person of Color. Students also practiced fine motor and art skills by creating an art display inspired by another local teacher.

A huge thank you to VIDEO GAMES ETC. In Cedar Falls for their very generous donation to our school. More incentives for our hard-working students to earn school money and then enjoy the reward of making purchases at our school store. Learning how to save and accumulate those school dollars to be able to make a more valuable purchase by budgeting and being patient enough to do so can be a challenge but very rewarding. The exchange between school store merchants and students wanting to make that purchase and pay for it, and having to count out those school dollars also has its challenges for these students, but what a fun rewarding way to learn. Please to sure to let this business know how much you appreciate their support for our school.
