Our first week back open was very busy, but what a great week it was! It was a great week of helping a lot of our normal customers but also a few new customers! A great week to work on ACbecause it was definitely needed this past week! ... A great week because we can see farmers already prepping equipment for harvest 2021 Get those inspections done & AC fixed before a busy fall season! Give us a call to get scheduled! Thanks for a great first week!

why I decided to reopen: Barry and I had put so much time and effort into this business and prior to his diagnosis we were just getting ready to expand. A lot of people will say that I'm just emotionally attached, and yes, obviously I am, but its so much more than that. I know that there is a big need for truck repair locally, I know that customers value the turn around time and honesty that comes with our small shop, and I knew that what we had built could succeed if I foun...d the right mechanic. Finding a mechanic is hard enough right now, let alone finding a good mechanic who is also very self motivated and that I trust to fully run the shop aspect. I definitely drug my feet on finding a mechanic because it was going to be a huge and slightly terrifying change for me. A high school friend kicked me in gear with the legal aspect of it and a few other friends/business owners met with me to give me advice. I met with a complete stranger who owns a diesel shop in a neighboring town and he just kept telling me, you have to just jump. Jump right in. Hire a mechanic and just do it. That same night a friend sent me a Steve Harvey video that confirmed I just needed to jump. Every successful person in this world has jumped. So, after those specific 5 people continued to encourage me to do it, I texted my future mechanic asking to meet at the shop to see what we had to offer... ::: to be continued tomorrow (hopefully you read to the end and didn't fall asleep with my book ;) )

Continuing the post from last night, read that one first! Kyle, Noah, Alaina, and I met at the shop a few days later to show them what Big Bear Repair had to offer. I knew we had so much potential but also understood it would be a lot for someone to take on. The mechanic would not only be the mechanic but also the scheduler, parts guy, and person who dealt with the majority of customer contact. A lot of great questions were asked that night, some which I had no answers for ...because we never had an employee. I'm thankful for their grace and mostly patience as I tried to figured many things out on my end. I left that night with excitement for simply getting to this step but also being unsure of what they were thinking...the real excitement came a few days later. We had a conference call to answer a few more questions and just listening to him talk/ask questions...I could see a little more about his future goals/dreams. Throughout that conversation, the excitement and hope for me just grew because what I was hearing reminded me of goals/hopes/dreams that Barry and I both had over past 5 years A few days later, while I was on vacation in Texas, Noah accepted the position of Head Mechanic at Big Bear Repair. To say that God answered my prayers is an understatement, I was thrilled. Noah Winslow started at Big Bear on Monday and has been very busy! Noah was working at Inland in Des Moines where he mostly did drive line and wet kit installation and servicing. Previous to that, he also worked at LeFebvre and Sons where he managed the shop, ordered parts, and performed truck and trailer maintenance...so he does have a little taste of a small town shop. Seeing the shop door open this week with trucks in and out has been incredible...I never realized how much I missed that. I'm very excited for the future of Big Bear Repair...because I have big dreams and goals for the shop and lots of people praying for its success

We are extremely frustrated {putting it lightly} but the shop phone was stolen last night... as we "patiently" wait for this to all work out, please direct all phone calls to 641-780-5915. We plan to contact the customers that we are working with now, but if you could share this to get more people aware it would be much appreciated! Thank you!
