Congratulations to the girls’ basketball team! The Braves will compete in Des Moines on Thursday, March 4 so there will be no school. Students will be in school due to weather, moving, and state basketball: Monday, March 15; Monday, April 5; Friday, May 28; and Tuesday, June 1. Go Braves!

CES students are celebrating "National Reading Month" with recognizing Dr. Seuss's birthday today. They enjoyed some Green Eggs & Ham while Dr. Seuss himself (Mr. Christiansen) read the book to them! (masks were worn after they were finished eating) It was a fun day!!

The Healthy Hero Award will be given each month to one 7th grade student. The Healthy Hero award is in cooperation with the Cherokee Wellness Center. Characteristics that we look for when nominating a Healthy Hero are: good sportsmanship, leadership, respectful of one’s self, peers, staff members, and property. We also look for students who are active in both the Physical Education setting and outside of the classroom. The student is someone who is self-motivated and willing to help others without being cued to do so. This month’s winner is Landan Stowater. Landan is very active in sports and sets a good example for other students to follow in Physical Education. Landan also excels academically where he helps his fellow classmates and is respectful to his teachers and staff. Congratulations Landan!!

If you have a high school student that can't make it to the game on Thursday, but wants to be part of the school spirit check this out: There will be No School ...on Thursday as the Girls Basketball team plays West Lyon in the semifinals @ 2:00. We are streaming the girls basketball game here at the school for students who want to watch but can't make it to the game. They can arrive @ 1:45. Bring your own water bottle. Popcorn will be provided. See more
