Day 2 of the 1A State Tournament was a cold one! North Cedar's boys team continued to persevere through unfavorable conditions. Costner Pruess bounced back with a 2nd round total of 86. Jaydon Nabb posted a 2nd round score of 92 with Nathan Nabb and Hunter Lohman rounding out North Cedar's top 4 scorers with a 97 and 98 respectively. Carson Cornelius and Nate Wood had respectable days scoring 102 and 108. North Cedar finished up the second day with a score of 373 and total sc...ore of 748 after both days. Jaydon Nabb posted a 172 over the two day span putting him in a tie for 16th at the tournament. Costner Pruess shot a 177 and left him tied for 23rd. Nathan Nabb placed within the top 50 scoring a 198 putting him in 48th place. Thanks to everyone that made this season great! Great job this season boys! Enjoy the summer and get out on the course! Congratulations to the JH track teams. We had several personal best times and distances last night at the conference meet. Haley Hefflefinger was first place in the discus and shot put.

The Boys Golf Team persevered through the elements yesterday. The team as a whole shot a 375 on the first day. Jaydon Nabb is tied for 6th place heading into Friday with an individual score of 80. Jaydon also posted a season best 9 - hole low with a 36. Costner Pruess had a score of 91, Nathan Nabb continues to play his best golf of the season with a 101 on his round of 18. Carson Cornelius rounds out the Knight's top 4 scoring leaders with a 103. The Knights head into tomorrow bracing for colder weather. Finish strong boys! It's a Great Day to be a Knight!

Sunday June 13th from 11-4 will be the celebration of life for Todd Cox at the DeWittFairgrounds.

Several ELP groups completed their first ever mousetrap car competition this week. The engineers worked really hard down the stretch to complete their cars and make on-the-fly modifications to improve their performances. They learned a lot about simple machines, mechanical advantage, and the engineering process despite all the hiccups that come with a first time project. Last week, both Lowden and Mechanicsville Elementary’s celebrated our retiring teachers - Diane Crittenden (6th Grade), Deb Harr (3rd Grade), Scott Jackson (PE), and Kurt Reynolds (4th Grade). We had the students parade through the gyms to wave and tell them good bye. We all wish them the best of luck and hope they enjoy retirement. They will all be missed.
