Champions Can Come From Anywhere! Former NV Cross Country standout Shane Breheny is currently working with Upward Bound students this summer through Simpson College. Upward Bound serves: high school students from low-income families; and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Simpson Co...llege invited actual cross country runners from the team the movie McFarland USA was based on. Thomas Valles and Johnny Samaniego, as portrayed in the movie McFarland USA, came to Simpson College to motivate kids in Simpson’s TRIO program upward bound for high school students. McFarland USA is based on a true storya group of novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California, who give their all to build a cross-country team under the direction of Coach Jim White, a newcomer to their predominantly Latino high school. Upon leaving, Valles and Samaniego asked Shane where he was from and if he was still in close contact with his high school coach. They had heard of Nodaway Valley while visiting Fitness Sports the previous day and offered to sign a poster for Coach B and a poster for Shane. Thanks, Shane!

ReminderIt's Monday and Summer Meals Pickup Day! Greenfield pickup will be on the south side of the high school from 11:30 to 12:30 and Fontanelle pickup will be from 11:00 to 12:00 on the west side of the middle school.

We will be giving the second dose in the HS commons today, June 14, at 9 am. If you CANNOT make it to this clinic, please call ACPH at 743-6173 to schedule a different time.
