Model 2 of our COVID-19 learning plan begins next week. We can't wait to continue our full schedule of age-specific homeroom classes online so families can keep making music safely at home. In Model 2, we'll also have a limited number of onsite All Ages offerings each week with safety protocol in place, by reservation only, for our enrolled members. If you plan to make a reservation for an onsite opportunity during Model 2, watch this video with your little one ahead of time. Pretend, play, and talk together. What will be different? What will be the same?

If there is a central idea that has become the ostinato of my learning in the past few weeks, it is this: intention is different from impact. Our best intentions have not been enough. And they won’t ever be enough. So, I want to share with you that our team is focusing on impact. We are embracing the forever work of being an anti-racist organization. This is the lullaby that I sung to my oldest every night as a baby, a toddler, and well into his growing years. I learned it early in my Kindermusik teaching career, before I was a mother. And when I was pregnant, this was the lullaby that swelled in my throat as he swelled in my belly. Leif is 14 now. And I still sing it to him sometimes. It’s imprinted on his heart and mine. Forever.... Lullabies are dream blessings. Blissful wishes. Drowsy dedications. Grace-full thanksgivings. They are resting liniments kneaded into the musical memory of our sinew so that we can fold our wings, and seek our nest, and return to dreams of bright berries as naturally as all the other places and postures we fly to through life. This has been a listless season. A month of heavy sluggish in between. I’m not asleep. But don’t feel quite awake either. Maybe it’s been similar for you too. Our current Foundations unit features lots of beautiful lullabies. And it’s been a good reminder to my heart. A musical map home from the mountain and the valley. The quiet of a resting place on the level betwixt. I’m singing it to you today.
