This bike arrived in boxes. It's like a giant jigsaw puzzle - except this puzzle needs to start, run, and blast you down the highway at foolish speeds!

Victory isn't the only manufacturer to have problems with the wire harness to the faring as it moves with the steering - it can happen to other bikes as well. This one happens to be the 160,000 mile Cross Country I've been working on. A couple of quick glances at the harness around the steering neck and I can see a half dozen broken wires. That's all it took to order a new OEM harness. There is just too much to repair, and a new harness is the best solution in this case. This Cross Country fuel pump would engage intermittently causing the bike to run poorly (if you could even get it to start). Since step #1 in my book is always a visual inspection, it immediately turned up the corroded main connector to the fuel tank. It doesn't look so bad right off the bat....until you touch the connection and feel that it's hot to the touch from the electrical resistance! The harness ends were unpinned and cleaned up and the problem went away. A lesser diagnostician may have ordered a fuel pump needlessly and started down a terrible road of misdiagnosis, frustration, and money wasted. The fork oil level on a Cross Country is an easy-to-remember 106mm. Ever seen someone do this job correctly?! Not the last guy evidently, who had the oil level so high it burst out and made a huge mess when I disassembled the fork!

It's a good weekend to get away on the bike for some recreation!
