'21 alum Jessica Heims is going to the Paralympics... again!!! Best of luck, Jessie! #PurpleForLife
Looking for a fun activity for the kids this summer? Register them in a virtual STEM camp called Beyond Frozen: Science, Math and the Art of Fractals! Kids will learn about the fractals that Elsa sings about in "Let it Go" by observing fractals in nature and even creating their own. This camp is for students entering grades 4-8 and will meet July 12-16 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. If you live in the U.S. and register by the end of June, you can receive the camp kit by the first day of the camp! Find more information at camps.uni.edu/beyond-frozen.
Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States. To uplift underrepresented perspectives and combat racism, UNI students led the Diversity is Our Strength project, creating a large-scale mural in downtown Waterloo as well as an interactive website to share diverse local stories. By creating this platform, the group is contributing to more lasting change. We hope this mural and project can act as a reminder to celebrate diversity every single day, not just on Juneteenth. To see the Diversity is Our Strength website, visit dios.uni.edu.
Another #TriviaThursday is here! How many students were enrolled in 1876? Make a correct guess and you could win a t-shirt!
Like father, like daughter! Russ Lippincott, '01, and Jada Lippincott, '21, are now both proud graduates of UNI. Happy Father's Day to all Panther dads and grads!
We're proud of these Panthers! Recent '21 graduate Jessica Heims won the F64 discus at the US Paralympic Trials Saturday, and sophomore Erin Kerkhoff finished second in the T13 division in both the 400-meter dash and the 100-meter dash. The US Olympic & Paralympic Committee will announce the members of Team USA later this week, so join us in cheering for Jessica and Erin. At the Olympic trials, graduate student Darius King advanced to the finals and placed 12th in the men's shot put. Alum and assistant distance coach Alexina Wilson will run in the 3000m steeplechase final Thursday night after earning a wild card spot, and alum Brandon Carnes will compete in the first round of the men's 200 meter race on Friday. Keep rooting for our Panther athletes! with UNI Track and Field
